Consistently showing up in times of disaster, Valley High Academy (VHA) distributed relief goods to almost 100 affected students of Guinayang National High School (GNHS) upon the request of a former VHA teacher.

GNHS Grade 10 teacher Ma. Fe Ermita, a former part-time instructor at VHA, sought assistance for her students who were affected by flooding in San Mateo following the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Crising.

“Ms. Redg received a message late night, Wednesday, from Ms. Ermita, she mentioned that she saw VHA provided aid. She would like to ask if she can extend the help to her g[rade] 10 advisory class and other g[rade] 10 students,” HR and Marketing Manager Dixie Ramos narrated, referring to Principal-Directress Regina Quimno.

Ramos added how “there were a lot of areas in San Mateo [that] suffered, what they receive from the government does not suffice.”

The relief supplies contained ready-to-eat foods to help the families as they try to recover from the aftermath of the typhoon.

“We opted to give something that is ready to eat… As we know it is very difficult to cook when the house is flooded, some are still cleaning their homes and some are still in the evacuation area,” Ramos said.

Quimno and Ramos led the organization of donations along with Elementary and Junior High School Associate Principal Juan Carlos Melegrito; Senior High School Associate Principal Christine Joy Sunga; ABM Strand Head Daniela Nicolas; TVL Strand Head Jhon Dell Albaran; HUMSS Strand Head Emmanuel Magno; STEM Strand Head Jose Paulo Valdez; Accounting Associate Mary Tumbaga; and Office Staff Felipe Collentes.

When asked if they faced any challenges, Ramos stated that “I can say, there’s no challenge at all, VHA have the best team, everyone answers once called, especially in this time of need.”

VHA also distributed aid to over 50 families of Vallenians last Wednesday, following the flooding brought by the typhoon where Rodriguez was placed under a state of calamity.
